The trek starts from Lukla (35 minutes flight from KTM), a small town in the Solu Khumbu district of Nepal. From Lukla, trekkers make their way towards Namche Bazaar, a bustling market town and the gateway to the Everest region. Spring, from March to May, is one of the most popular seasons for Mount Everest Base Camp Trek. The weather during this time is generally stable and pleasant, with daytime temperatures at lower altitudes ranging between 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F). As trekkers ascend to higher elevations, temperatures drop significantly, with daytime highs around Everest Base Camp (5,364m) averaging -6°C to 2°C (21°F to 36°F). Nights are considerably colder, often dipping below freezing even at lower elevations. The climate in this seasons are marked by clear skies and excellent visibility, making it an ideal time for trekking.
During the months of autumn seasons (September to November), is another prime season for trekking in the Everest region. Post-monsoon, the weather stabilizes, offering clear skies and crisp air, with daytime temperatures at lower elevations ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F). As trekkers move higher, temperatures at places like Everest Base Camp can vary between -10°C to 5°C (14°F to 41°F) during the day. Nights are cold, with temperatures often falling well below freezing. The autumn months are renowned for their stunning vistas of dazzling mountains. The climate in autumn is characterized by dry conditions, making it one of the best times for trekking in terms of weather reliability.
